Grant Tome

Potential books written by and about the British actor

Four Weddings and a Funeral and Sirens hunk Hugh Grant was reportedly set to author the book How to Be a Gentleman for Hyperion, but a spokesman says the actor ''is positively not writing it. He was approached but didn't accept the project.'' Grant will, however, be the subject of a book by Jody Tressider, Grant's former Oxford schoolmate and girlfriend. Titled Hugh Grant: An Intimate Biography (Fourth Estate), Tressider's book will share juicy scoops, including that his fellow students thought he was gay and that he seduced women by reciting poetry and D.H. Lawrence. ''Hugh would probably prefer it if she didn't write the book,'' says Fourth Estate's Joanna Prior. ''But that doesn't mean she's going to make her gorgeous Huey out to be a monster, 'cause she's not. They're still friends.'' The Grant camp isn't so amicable. Says his spokesman, ''She's just trying to make money off his name.''
