Bank Robber (1994)

EW's GRADE
D

Details Rated: R; Genres: Comedy, Crime; With: Lisa Bonet and Patrick Dempsey

The newly buff but still slack-jawed Patrick Dempsey portrays the title character in Bank Robber, a holdup man said to be of the ''romantic gentleman'' variety, who, on the lam after muffing a job, turns the corner of Lonely Street and checks into Heartbreak Hotel. No, I'm not making this up. The kind of movie that gives quirkiness a bad name, Bank Robber shoots for Absurdist, Existential Black Comedy but ends up hitting Failed Exploitation Picture — and that only by dint of them, copious sex scenes between Dempsey and Lisa Bonet (as a fortune-telling hooker).
