The great thing about freeze-framing movies on video is seeing all sorts of mistakes you wouldn't notice otherwise. But the terrible thing is, you can end up with truly twisted priorities.

Keep that in mind when you watch In the Name of the Father. Falsely accused of bombing a pub in England, Gerry Conlon (Daniel Day-Lewis) wears a crucifix around his neck while undergoing police interrogation. But when he's badgered into signing a false confession, the crucifix disappears — only to reappear the moment he's out in the hallway.

Because this sequence is one of the more gut-wrenching moments in a movie that's full of gut wrenchers, all we can say about our myopia is this: Boy, we must have an awful lot of time on our hands.
