Voices Carry

The actress's attempts to adopt an Irish brogue are being kept under wraps

The most sought-after woman on the set of Mary Reilly — filming in England and Scotland — is not Julia Roberts. It's the star's voice coach. Although everyone on the production is refusing to divulge the coach's name, she has received numerous offers from the British tabloids asking her to tell all about her famous client. Says a Roberts spokeswoman, ''[The coach] won't talk to anyone — bless her soul.'' The spokeswoman also refused to elaborate on Roberts' efforts to learn an Irish brogue, but says, ''Julia wants her voice to be authentic.''
