Where's the sense of abandon Julia Fordham announced she wanted on this album? Except for a few guttural vocals, her fourth offering, Falling Forward, merely reprises the swoopy contralto, airy arrangements, and cloying lyrics that are her signature. Fordham may have intended the title to reflect her uninhibitedness, but after the sugar crash the album prompts, a more fitting tag might be ''I've fallen and I can't get up.'' C+
