The Poison Years period in the Bob Mould archives falls between his early-'80s Husker Du work and the output of his current noise unit, Sugar. Poison Years couples the pained acoustic exorcisms of 1989's Workbook with the rage-infested feedback of 1990's Black Sheets of Rain. Add a few furious live guitar tantrums, and the result is a plugged fest that will blow away your surge protector. B+
