Signs of ''Live''

World Aid Relief! approaches recording artists to help ten major causes

It's Live Aid part deux. World Aid Relief! (WAR!), a New York- based nonprofit organization, is planning a 24-hour internationally televised music marathon next July to mark the 10th anniversary of Live Aid. WAR!'s Colin Medlock, a former Capitol-EMI Music executive, is coordinating at least 18 concerts in 17 countries, including the U.S., Japan, Great Britain, and Italy. The proceeds from the concert will go to 10 core causes, including the environment, civil rights, addiction solutions, AIDS research, and cancer research. Negotiations with both Fox and MTV to air the concert are currently under way, and several artists — including David Bowie and Mariah Carey — have been approached. Says Medlock: ''We believe when we set it up that everyone and their mother will call us.''
