Coming to a theater near you: Jim Carrey's past. In 1989, as a favor to fellow In Living Color writer Steve Oedekerk, the gummy-faced comedian did an uncredited cameo in Oedekerk's High Strung, which was never released. Now, thanks to the $72 million success of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, High Strung exec producer Vladimir Horunzhy has landed a $400,000 distribution deal with Rocket Pictures. Both Oedekerk and Carrey's agent, Nick Stevens of United Talent Agency, had no comment on the situation, but UTA has tried to block Rocket's plans to sell High Strung as a Carrey film. Although the actor contracted to do the film only if his appearance went uncredited, there was no provision keeping his name and likeness out of advertising. Rocket spokeswoman Hadley Wood says that UTA's threats will have ''no influence'' on their plans. According to Wood, ''We're not quite sure what we're going to do with it, but we won't be doing anything before the end of the summer.''
