Paul Hogan's still dressed like ''Crocodile'' Dundee in Lightning Jack, a dust-covered comedy Western about a notorious Aussie outlaw, but this time the joke isn't that he's an amphibian out of water; instead he's just inept. Only after he takes on a speechless greenhorn sidekick (Cuba Gooding Jr.) does he gain the smarts he needs to live up to his own legend. Robbing banks, outrunning posses, and romancing dancehall girls, Hogan and Gooding keep things mildly amusing. But even as they kid the old cliches, there's something, well, old about their act. Butch and Sundance they ain't. C
