And the bloated, Muzak-from-hell string arrangements of the live album A Celebration: The Music of Pete Townshend and the Who make you wish the former Who frontman maintained some of the rock integrity his band once stood for. Or maybe he should have just taken a cue from guests like Eddie Vedder, who showed up to make this 50th birthday bash at Carnegie Hall a sellout but refused to go on and foist a substandard performance on his fans.
