Details Lead Performance: Edie Brickell; Genre: Blues

Edie Brickell abandons Birkenstocks, split ends, and the New Bohemians on her solo debut Picture Perfect Morning. Through a thick weed of instrumentation, she traipses down the mellow brick road, her baby voice blowing bluesy ditties about pot, narcissistic louts, and driving around in beat-up cars. Producer/husband Paul Simon's sonic wizardry is a treat, but the hard times she sings about seem ridiculous given her current living arrangement. B-
