The updating of old school hip-hop heroes has been an awkward, depressing business. But original rap band Disconnection-Sugarhill Records' session group of Doug Wimbish, Keith LeBlanc, and Skip McDonald-never fell off, and this is an experimental hoot. Mesmerizing guitar riffs and squishy samples float up from woozy grooves like B-boy visions of the future.
