At least give this campus comedy partial credit for running deeper than the usual post-''Animal House'' offerings. Macho dude Stuart (Baldwin) loves skittish Alex (Boyle), who loves bookish Eddy (Josh Charles), who discovers, to his confusion, that he loves Stuart. To add some complexity to this tale, they're roommates. Threesome is honest enough to portray college students as earnest sexaholics, but when it comes to Eddy's gayness, the movie is all talk (which may be in keeping with the instincts of the character, but it still feels like a cop-out). The three leads are quite engaging whenever they are disengaged, though, and the movie does nail the emotional weirdness of your average dormitory suite.
