A
When director Alan J. Pakula's Watergate film All the President's Men first appeared, it was greeted as a riveting, superbly acted political thriller. In this pristine wide-screen laserdisc version, it's no less effective as a detective story. But it's taken on a sad extra dimension as a peek back to when Hollywood offered coherent stories without gratuitous camera trickery.
