SLAYER Divine Intervention (American Recordings) In a sense, Slayer's entire oeuvre can be seen as one long song, an extended symphony of murder, mayhem, and depravity. On the group's eighth album, the song remains the same, and it's an ugly one: Rape, cannibalism, and necrophilia are just some of the topics addressed here. Still, the music's headlong charge toward the apocalypse demonstrates why Slayer is the speed-metal band against which all others will forever be judged. B -Tom Sinclair
