From his self-imposed Hawaiian exile, the other half of Steely Dan delivers several compelling pop cuts, dressed with his imaginative jazzy guitar solos and charmingly slurred vocals. But the chemistry he once shared with former partner Donald Fagen (who coproduced this album) is notably missing. Becker's choruses lack the memorable melodies that saved his old band from geeky fusion purgatory. B
