No sophomore slump for this new-jack female trio. Unlike most of their histrionic peers (Mariah Carey, SWV), Jade eschew vocal pyrotechnics and overproduction for a sparse musicality and an insouciant singing style. And here, on slinky three-quarter-speed cuts like ''What's Goin' On'' and ''Every Day of the Week,'' they rely even more on harmonies and rich instrumentation, showing just how confident-and sophisticated-they've become.
