Terminal Velocity took a dive its opening weekend, proving that Charlie Sheen's name above the title doesn't necessarily do much for action fans. So far, Sheen's biggest openers (in the $8 million to $11 million range) have been the two Hot Shots! spoofs and such ensemble movies as The Three Musketeers and Major League (and the final box office tally for his previous action vehicle, The Chase, was just $8 million). Among the limited releases, The Shawshank Redemption bolstered by word of mouth and positive reviews dominated despite having a bafflingly uninformative print ad. Sheen should be so lucky.
