Album Review: 'Fun' (1994)

Manic-depressive Johnston's unaffected songs lyrically straddle the touching and the creepy. Thankfully, his eccentricities — spare production, wavering pitch, erratic phrasing — have made the major-label transfer practically intact, only better recorded. Just pray they don't market him as rock's Forrest Gump. B+
