The year: 2022. The place: a jungle island where the corrupt U.S. prison system secretly dumps incorrigible convicts. Liotta plays one such criminal, a lethal ex-soldier who joins the relatively civilized Insiders as they defend their camp against the savage Outsiders. The warfare seems equally inspired by ''Rambo,'' ''Escape From New York,'' and the ''Mad Max'' films. The characters, however, are reasonably original. Some of them even discuss such concepts as atonement and redemption. A macho action flick with $10 words? Now, that's a concept.
