When he is indeed very funny, Alan King is a world-class kvetch who perfects being in high dudgeon as a comic art form by railing against such offenders as luggage-losing airlines and profit-gouging Wall Streeters. For The Very Funny World of Alan King, his first-ever best-of comedy video, he presides over performance clips from a career that began in the 1940s on Major Bowes' Amateur Hour and continues today in talk-show perpetuity. Despite a few glacial patches (including a groaningly outdated recap of Mideast politics), it's a world well worth the 90-minute visit.
