Its modest production values suggest a TV movie that got past the censors, but Hand Gun manages to win you over with its queasy idea of fun and a nice sense of bad humor. Treat Williams stars as a tough-guy ex-con competing with his white-bread con-man brother for the cash that their dead dad has hidden away, while being alternately pursued by wiseguys and crooked cops. But the filmmakers keep you guessing over which brother is the bigger sleazeball, injecting some real suspense into the lowlife proceedings.
