Music Review: 'Flaco Jimenez'

EW's GRADE
B

Details Lead Performance: Flaco Jimenez; Genre: Country

A founding member of the Texas Tornados, accordionist Jimenez calls upon Raul Malo (of the Mavericks) and labelmates Lee Roy Parnell and Radney Foster to broaden his conjunto sound with forays into country and R&B. While Foster brings a welcome Texas shuffle (''Jealous Heart'') to balance the samey San Antonio-style accordion runs and Spanish vocals, Jimenez never strays from his Tejano heart. B
