As glossy magazines (including Entertainment Weekly) branch out onto the Net, they could do a lot worse than model themselves on Wired's new web site. With HotWired, the techno-hipster monthly has gone beyond simply regurgitating what is on the newsstand, creating an entirely separate interactive journal overflowing with crazy-colored graphics and icons that lead you to insider tips on hot places to go on the Net (e.g., Juggling Information Service), twisted comics and sound files, and a late-night interactive chat show featuring offbeat on-line guests. Only bummer: ads at the top of the screen. But that's where's resemblance to an old-fashioned magazine begins and ends. A-
