On the generous 26-track Greatest Hits compilation, main man John Sebastian's knack for the indelible melody is writ large on classics like ''Didn't Want to Have to Do It,'' and the band's unique folk-country-pop hybrid still sounds astonishingly fresh. Docked a notch for the omission of ''Four Eyes'' and ''Let That Boy Rock and Roll.'' A-
