At the core of this 24-year-old film, Sympathy For The Devil, directed by Jean-Luc Godard, are the Stones, in their 20s and at the peak of their musical and mythic powers. The band is recording ''Sympathy for the Devil,'' and the process is amazing: to think the revolutionary anthem started out sounding like a plinkety folk song! Godard laces the session footage with Marxist agitprop imagery about sexual and racial struggles, making this an odd and fascinating piece of musical propaganda. B-
