Stuck with an unbelievable script about a rich woman being driven to insanity, the producers of Inner Sanctum 2 wisely brought in veteran schlock director Fred Olen Ray (Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers) to spruce up the film with his knack for film-nerd casting. His roster here includes David Warner, Emilio Estevez's uncle Joe, and Margot (née Margaux) Hemingway, the actress-model whose cute lisp still compensates for her noticeable lack of talent. More important, Ray conjures up enough unexpectedly creepy moments to keep undemanding viewers on edge. That is, when they aren't distracted by the lame body-double inserts tossed in whenever nurse Jennifer Ciesar beds down the hunky gardener/insurance investigator. B-
