The Diary

EW's GRADE
B

With beats that are slick, simple, and to the point, this album's understated production oozes streetwise certainty. Houston gangsta kingpin Scarface, also one of the Geto Boys, has a gift for spinning gory tales (check out his existential rap on ''I Seen a Man Die'') and even outshines Ice Cube on a duet. But like most spaghetti Westerns, The Diary doesn't offer much beyond adrenaline-pumping shoot-outs. B
