These standards, on Healing Hands of Time, are produced with just the sort of countrypolitan schmaltz that Willie rebelled against 25 years ago. But that nasal, dry-as-mesquite voice and skewed timing give the ol' outlaw an irreducible core of individuality he's incapable of making elevator music. B+
