Meeting Cusack

John Cusack scores with "City Hall" role -- The actor seems surprised by Al Pacino's vote

Working with Woody Allen (in Bullets Over Broadway) and Rob Reiner (in The Sure Thing) apparently wasn't the confidence builder you'd think it would be. John Cusack sounds shocked that he landed the role opposite Al Pacino in City Hall. Recalls Cusack: ''I walked in the room and Al says, 'Oh, yeah. I'd like to do this movie with somebody like you.' I was going, 'Really?''' Now that he has the role, Cusack seems even more puzzled. ''Al is why I got it,'' he says. ''Of course, CAA and all those people probably tried to get all these other people in there. It must have been Al or why else would I have gotten it?''
