This beautifully printed book of photos by Andre Kertész provides an overview of 80 years of imagery. Shooting in his native Hungary and in Paris, Kertész managed to capture those magically odd moments that we see only in our periphery, as well as the essence of those he observed straight on. It was only in his later years, after moving to the United States, that his talents seemed diminished by a slickness or smallness — as if he had forgotten how to see beyond the graphic nature of what he observed. Still, the book treats us to some of the most deservedly famous street scenes, portraits, and landscapes ever produced by a single artist. A
