With its sleek, futuristic fighting cyborgs and crunching-metal sound effects, Rise of the Robots has all the gee-whiz ingredients needed to be more than just another fighting game. But once you get beyond the tired post-apocalyptic vibe and get down to kickin' some interactive butt, it might as well be Street Fighter II. The game's marketing hook that the grappling robots learn to anticipate their opponents' moves is all well and good. But it's not enough to quell that sinking feeling you get that somehow this game should've been much, much more. B
