Rise of the Robots

With its sleek, futuristic fighting cyborgs and crunching-metal sound effects, Rise of the Robots has all the gee-whiz ingredients needed to be more than just another fighting game. But once you get beyond the tired post-apocalyptic vibe and get down to kickin' some interactive butt, it might as well be Street Fighter II. The game's marketing hook — that the grappling robots learn to anticipate their opponents' moves — is all well and good. But it's not enough to quell that sinking feeling you get that somehow this game should've been much, much more. B
