The place: Los Angeles International Airport. The scene: A private plane hits the runway and out steps not one, but two starship Enterprise captains. The circumstances: No, it wasn't a Romulan attack on California. While in Las Vegas promoting Star Trek Generations, star Patrick Stewart was granted full use of Paramount's jet. So when he discovered that costar William Shatner was also headed back to L.A., ''I offered him a ride,'' says Stewart. ''It was a very pleasant way to continue our friendship.'' Stewart reports that the two men shared ''a nice supper and a bottle of wine,'' though neither sat in the captain's chair.
