Prizewinner is not the first word that comes to mind watching Belle Epoque, which earned a Best Foreign Film Oscar. It's a fanciful and often amusing sex comedy about the erotic adventures of a young deserter (Jorge Sanz) in a household of four hungry young women during the Spanish Civil War. The narrative's good-natured quality, along with some soothing cinematography, makes it a pleasant-enough affair, but it passes by as gently — and as memorably — as a soft summer breeze.B-
