Pamela Gidley plays a photographer for Wild Earth magazine, sent to Africa in search of the rare Taita Falcon. ''I don't want anybody scoopin' us on this!'' yells her editor, who's also her fiancé (Jeff Fahey). Who's gonna scoop her — a SWAT team from National Geographic? In Freefall, Gidley meets up with Eric Roberts — he's a movie stuntman who likes to spend his spare time diving off the side of African mountains. Roberts is soon licking Gidley's neck; they become lovers, and the next thing you know, Gidley and Roberts are caught up in some international intrigue that leads to exchanges like this: She: ''Those policemen at the cricket match '' He: ''They were killers!'' Pointlessly complicated, woodenly acted, Freefall is leaden. D
