This deluxe, three-laserdisc edition of the charming dark fable is the video equivalent of a fat, coffee-table art book crammed with great stuff you probably won't absorb in one sitting. Which means that along with a gorgeous freeze-frameable (standard play) transfer of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, you get audio commentary by director Henry Selick, a making-of documentary, deleted scenes, trailers, storyboards, production photos, and two early works from producer Burton Frankenweenie (a monster-flick parody as on-target as Young Frankenstein) and the animated Vincent in its first release.
