A decade ago, when ''alternative'' bands were rarely known above the underground, Minneapolis' Suburbs debonair, edgy, rhythmically intense were a deservedly big deal. On this sterling career retrospective, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Suburbs Have Left the Building, the quintet's unsettling adventures in cerebral art-punk-funk-rock don't sound at all dated. B+
