The Christmas releases keep rolling out. Used People, the Shirley MacLaine- Mar- cello Mastroianni romantic comedy, finally went wide this week and performed quite impressively, racking up a $5,000 per- screen average and an A- from audiences polled by CinemaScore. People is scheduled to go even wider in the coming month. The news was also good for Scent of a Woman, which finished off another profitable weekend just in time to capture three major Golden Globe Awards. With the Al Pacino vehicle now generating increased Oscar buzz, Scent looks to remain a healthy box office contender. In its second weekend, Alive, despite a lack of star power, held up just well enough to start looking like the sleeper of the season. WEEKEND TOP TEN GROSS WEEKS IN GROSS* TO DATE RELEASE
