The music from 1983's Everything Falls Apart and More (and assorted rarities) is like raw stick figures compared with the fleshed-out melodic punk brilliance of the Hüskers Dü's later work. The spirited electric blur of the disbanded trio, led by singer-guitarist Bob Mould, obscures the winning sensitivity they went on to show. Like much of indie rock's inspired amateurism, this flash of lightning couldn't be preserved. B-
