An assortment of lonely characters, ranging from a widow living in the past (Teresa Wright) to a gigolo living in the future (Christopher Walken), take life lessons at the famous Manhattan dance palace Roseland. This early Merchant-Ivory production drags its feet but is worth a rental for the performers, especially Helen Gallagher as a wiseacre dance teacher who has seen it all. C
