This adaptation of Nadine Gordimer's short story was shot secretly in Johannesburg and captures, with documentary flavor, life in both the white world and the townships. Both are seen through the eyes of a Londoner (Ivan Jackson) who after befriending an African (Zakes Mokae) must eventually choose sides. An important record, the quietly observant A World of Strangers still startles. A-
