Two stepbrothers (David Bradley and Mark Dacascos), bitter enemies, are finalists in an Istanbul gladiatorial match in American Samurai a big bruiser whose writing is from hunger and acting is from starvation. But the over-the-top action scenes in the arena are terrific — and either hilarious or gruesome, depending on the state of the viewer's stomach. C+
