It's difficult to see this ''group'' really just songwriter Kurt Ralske and his zillion overdubbed guitars as much more than the sum of its even more ultravivid influences, especially when the liner notes in Rev conveniently mention eight of 'em. They forgot Pink Floyd's Meddle, but Ralske didn't check out the Dave Gilmour riffs in ''Thief's Love Song.'' Ultra Vivid Scene's album is appealing in that timeless, pointless replica kind of way, you know? B-
