Warren Beatty made headlines this week

CURRENT AFFAIR: Never accuse Warren Beatty of being fickle — at least when it comes to movie projects. Since at least the early '80s, he has been passionate about remaking An Affair to Remember, the 1957 film starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr (itself a remake of 1939's Love Affair). Had Beatty succeeded in doing the film in 1984, it probably would have starred his leading lady at the time, Isabelle Adjani. But it's 1993 and the torch has been passed to Annette Bening. No word on how she feels about stepping into a part once slated for her husband's former lover, but, a source close to the project says, ''Annette will bring more edge to the role.'' The film goes before the cameras next month.
