If we come into money, God calls us to manage it. And the management of money is almost as complex and demanding a task as the management of people-and often related. One needs to learn about investing. The soul needs to be searched as to motives, as to just how much security is enough. Hard decisions must be made as to what to reinvest and what to give away. And then, if you become a significant philanthropist-a wonderful calling-you will find your problems have only begun. To whom and what should you give your money away? With what kinds of strings? How do you give it in a manner that will empower rather than sap initiative? What are your responsibilities to assist in the management of the charitable organizations to which you make larger donations? - When and how do you withdraw your support? I believe my multimillionaire friend's behavior lacks civility because he has largely ducked these hard issues. There is infinitely more to management than hoarding. Good management, whether it be of people or money, always requires giving and serving. I do not believe Bart has been the good manager of money that God has called him to be.
