The count (Christopher Atkins) is a monk this time around and the damsel in distress (Stacey Travis) is an art historian who in another life was burned at the stake as a witch. Can the vampire keep his fangs off her, his former love? Would that there were better actors in Dracula Rising, but talented director Fred Gallo's (Dead Space) reinterpretation of the myth — which alternates between the exalting and the ridiculous — has romance, sadomasochism, a sense of humor, Bulgarian scenery, and sizzling sexiness.
