Feels Like Rain (1993)

EW's GRADE

Details Lead Performance: Buddy Guy; Genres: Blues, Rock

Even after 35 years on the blues battlefield, Buddy Guy's guitar has lost little of its flame-throwing fury. Unfortunately, Feels Like Rain, the follow-up to his great '91 comeback album, Damn Right I've Got the Blues, is marred by too much guest vocalizing (Paul Rodgers? Travis Tritt??) and too little instrumental wailing. Still, when he starts strafing the landscape — as on old mentor Muddy Waters' ''She's Nineteen Years Old'' — it's hard not to surrender to the blinding intensity of this living legend's white-hot blues.
