Long in the shadow of fellow honky-tonker George Jones, Vern Gosdin is a ''must hear'' for those who applaud Jones' emotional immediacy but tire of his self-parody. Specializing in the ecstasy and anguish of mature romance, Gosdin is nothing if not real on Nickels and Dimes and Love, especially on his tortured prayer for peace of mind, ''Any Old Miracle.'' B
