Take your pick: Either Pure Country is country music's New Traditionalist ethic applied to the movies, or it's just a bald retread. Either way, the story's old: George Strait plays a jaded C&W star who finds meaning by pickin' up that acoustic guitar and fallin' for a filly whose dad is about to lose his ranch. When he's not singing, Strait comes off likably bland; the real find is Isabel Glasser, who's both fresh and mature as the love interest. C
