STALIN Robert Duvall, Maximilian Schell (1992, MGM/UA, $92.99, unrated) Duvall is a dominating presence as comrade Stalin, but the inner man stays hidden beneath a metric ton of makeup. Encumbered by a museum's worth of impressive period trappings, this film manages all the excitement of a history exam.
